“Out of Sight is Not Out of Mind”

by Angel Burns on January 5, 2011

I’ve taken to carrying a larger bag. It’s more briefcase than a purse, but a way to schlep two now-important items: a notebook and my ipad. Why? Because I want to talk to you.

Thoughts are gonna come while driving or humming and I’ve gotta be ready (don’t worry–I’ll pull over to do it!) Voice recorder at the ready as well. Many minutes later is that much stale. Wherever you are, I’m thinking of you…

Someday there may be many more strangers than friends I’ve met. Or will meet. Yes, an artist lives to express. But for those who know me, I have a lot of guilt about how hard it is to spend time together. Only so much time in the day, as they say. So many projects, a big extended family, great organizations/events/charities, travel– little sleep. Life is juicy. Seems everybody’s busy. Still you are VERY important to me.

Doesn’t matter whether you are a client, a colleague, or a friend-of-a-friend, a vendor, a parent or a new acquaintance. Inspiration lies in you and I want you to know your value, even when our paths cross from afar. As with my photographic subjects, I’d love for you to see yourselves the way I do!

So this is to start a conversation that I hope never ends. That’s what friends do– share, complain, encourage and laugh! Until the next live hug, it’s the bag lady, signing out– but holding you in my heart.

p.s. This means your comments are appreciated too!

Beauty as we find it…

October 22, 2010

Attended fellow APA colleague, Melvin Sokolsky’s presentation last night. Melvin is a legendary photographer, famous since his Harper’s Bazaar work way back when. He has a new book coming out soon, and I was looking forward to hearing him expound for a long time. He did not disappoint! Beyond the slideshows of magical floating bubbles [...]

“One Light”

September 12, 2010

“We don’t have to do/be it all ourselves.” The emphasis is on “all.” Just do/be one. One small specific “thing.” And share that. This is the secret of creating art, communicating effectively– of making a difference. Went to a presentation tonight by now-renowned photographer Jeff Sheng. The subject was Don’t-Ask-Don’t-Tell (i.e. the military policy on [...]

Success Defined :)

“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch [...]
